SCROLL, DESIRE, REPEAT explores the complex relationship between aesthetics, functionality, and consumerism, proposing a visual itinerary divided into two sections: Aesthetics vs. Comfort – ready-made installations (reinterpretations of sculptural objects), and Lost Functionality – utilitarian objects transformed into purely ornamental forms.

The works of artists Dumitrița Gurău, Claudia Nicola Ungureanu, Daria Frozinschi, Lucreția Țîu, and Teodora Prodan foreground the aesthetics of contemporary consumerism through posters, advertisements, photographs, multimedia installations, and artist books. The excessive aestheticization of everyday objects and spaces turns products into aspirational symbols, stripping functionality of its meaning and amplifying the visual culture of desire.
We continue to exist within an illusion of necessity, exacerbated by the advertising industry and by the algorithms of digital platforms that generate and sustain aesthetic aspirations increasingly difficult to separate from personal identity. The desire to consume thus becomes an endless cycle: “scroll, desire, repeat.”
Planned obsolescence, aesthetic virality, and brand identity call into question the apparent freedom of personal choice. Within this dynamic, objects and images cease to serve functionality and instead operate as tools of visibility, replacing genuine need with aspirational fantasy. Whether adopting an ironic, poetic, or discursive register, the artists invite us to reflect on the ways in which consumerism redefines identity.

LUCREȚIA ȚÎU
LUCREȚIA ȚÎU (b. 2002, Republic of Moldova) is a visual artist, trained in mural art. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mural Art from the National University of Arts “George Enescu” in Iași and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the same institution.
Her artistic practice combines an interest in installation and murals with a constant fascination for the fantastic imaginary, elements that formed the conceptual core of her bachelor’s thesis and that continue to fuel her artistic research directions. Exploring dream worlds and fantastic elements, her works propose a symbolic escape from everyday life, filtered through a personal sensitivity towards themes such as the exploration of identity, dreams and the perception of reality.
She participated in group exhibitions such as Demoted Taste (Aparte Gallery, Iași, 2024), In Extenso (Braunstein Palace, 2025), as well as in the "Creative Healing" project, organized by the Save the Children Iași Association (October–November 2024 and April 2025 editions – present), where she was involved in artistic and therapeutic activities.
