As struggles to support activist projects are becoming stronger and louder in the public sphere, contemporary art can contribute differently to supporting a cause. Water is a main topic when it comes to the environment, especially pollution, but this exhibition approaches the theme of water in a different way. Listening to the sonority of water, feeling it and seeing it in new and vital ways without yet having a demonstrative purpose or trying to intervene with change - this is the way of looking which has been forgotten.
In this context, the artist Miruna Radovici in collaboration with Roxana Morar and Sara Tayari embark on an exploratory process whose subject is water and the return to the pure, ancestral relationship between man and water. Without looking for environmental solutions or answers to questions related to the environment and its transformations, the three artists propose an immersive way to create an original visual experience as well as an authentic sensory involvement.
The artists' strategies are developed through experimentation in both an anthropized and natural environment. During the Water Under the Bridge artistic residency which allowed Miruna Radovici to probe (literally and figuratively) the lake in the "Anastasie Fătu" Botanical Garden in Iasi and structure a relationship with it in a personal and artistic way.
The forms of artistic expression are varied: painting, photography, video, ceramics and many more. Miruna Radovici structures a puzzle like a journey across the water - cross the lake. She puts forward various substrates that allow reading the project as a whole from several perspectives. Without a hierarchy of perspectives, the viewers can choose his own viewpoint from which to begin their journey. They are carried away by familiar symbols which gravitate around water. Taking into account the fact that water is like a puzzle piece, present in the life of each of us, Miruna Radovici includes the relationship of others with water in her exhibition vision.
Cross the Lake in a Silver Plate is a collaborative endeavour both between the three artists and in the relationship between art and the public. Their involvement is a fundamental component and appears naturally by appropriating the elements in the exhibition with one's own identity. Visual, auditory and even tactile perceptions serve to enhance the interpretation, and provide a complex experience.
