-
LocationArtep Gallery Iasi
The artistic dialogue between Karin Peulen and Andreea-Delia Voren, in the spirit of the rhizomatic model articulated by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, unfolds as a non-hierarchical, ever-evolving exchange of ideas. Karin, a multidisciplinary artist based in Maastricht, The Netherlands, - works in Hasselt/Belgium - served as a guiding influence for Andreea during a pivotal moment in her creative development.

They met in the painting department where Karin became Andreea’s guiding prof during Andreea’s Erasmus-exchange.
Initially trained in painting, Andreea undertook the exploration of the glass medium within the institution, which features an exceptionally large glass workshop. She began blending the two mediums - painting and glass - thus embarking on a transformative journey that significantly expanded her technical abilities and conceptual framework.
Much like the rhizome, their collaborative process eschews linear progression in favor of interconnected nodes of inspiration, bridging the realms of nature, everyday life, and art. By weaving found elements, material structures, and personal experiences into their respective practices, Karin and Andreea create works that are simultaneously individual expressions and intertwined reflections. This mode of collaboration enables a continual dialogue in which each artist’s ideas refract and illuminate the other’s perspective, fostering a sense of multiplicity rather than a singular, closed narrative. As Deleuze and Guattari’s notion of the rhizome suggests, their conversation continually branches out in unforeseen directions, offering new insights and embracing the fluidity of creative exchange.
In journeying alongside these two artists, one gains a heightened awareness of the manifold connections linking art, nature, and the quotidian. Their work invites viewers to reconsider conventional boundaries, viewing artistry not as a static object, but as an ongoing, living process. Through this reflective engagement, Karin and Andreea encourage us to see art—and, indeed, the world itself.
Karin Peulen is a Dutch artist, known for her work in various mediums, including painting, drawing, and installation art. Her practice often explores themes of nature, the human body, and the intersections between organic and constructed forms. Peulen’s work frequently incorporates abstraction and figuration, blending both to create dynamic compositions that evoke a sense of fragility and transformation. She has exhibited her work in numerous galleries and exhibitions, often engaging with conceptual ideas around perception, memory, and the relationship between the viewer and the artwork. Her ability to work across different formats and materials has made her a notable figure in contemporary art circles.
